All our Titan Square Mile MPS portfolios are actively managed and positioned for the long-term. By leveraging our award-winning, in-house research capability, we build portfolios that are focused on delivering suitable client outcomes.
Our investment process
The investment team analyse the markets, assess opportunities and risks and, together with the opinions of the research team, identify the right funds that ought to collectively perform well over most market conditions.
The starting point for portfolio construction is our proven Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) framework. This is usually set with a multi-year time horizon, as we believe this is key to setting the strongest possible long-term risk and return framework. Diversification is an important part of our SAA, providing a spread of risk across portfolios.
As market conditions change, we also look to achieve additional returns through tilting the portfolios to take advantage of short-term opportunities. Valuation is critical to any tilts we make, aiming to mitigate losses, but we also assess macroeconomic conditions and inputs from the fund managers in which we invest.
A focus on quality
Our fund selection is driven by deep research. Our investment managers will only consider funds for inclusion that have been researched and rated, providing an investable universe of around 350 funds. It should be stressed that the funds of Titan Investment Solutions will also be deeply researched but will not be rated, to avoid any conflicts of interest.
The managers also use passive funds to provide better client outcomes in instances where markets are efficiently priced. So, they invest in active strategies where they add value and utilise passive in some markets that are generally harder to outperform.
A collaborative approach
The Investment Management and Research teams collaborate to refine the list from which the highest conviction funds are selected for the portfolios, within the prescribed SAA and investment mandate. In addition, our scale and size allow us access to a variety of low-cost share classes and unitised modules to deliver better value for your clients.
Our 7-step investment process combines the expertise of our investment managers with the opinions of the research team. It is this collaboration and partnership in portfolio construction that gives us our distinct competitive edge.
